CCR Rule Compliance Data and Information
On April 17, 2015, the Environmental Protection Agency promulgated Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Subtitle D regulations (40 CFR Part 257) regarding the management of Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) generated by electrical utilities. This Rule establishes standards for the management and disposal of CCR. Owners and operators of any CCR unit are required to establish and maintain a publicly accessible CCR internet site by the effective date of the rule which is October 19, 2015. This website is intended to satisfy this requirement for Santee Cooper’s CCR landfills and surface impoundments under the Rule.
Cross
Cross is Santee Cooper's largest coal-fired generating station with a total capacity of 2,350 MW. The first unit began commercial operation in 1983, and the other three units came online in 1995, 2007 and 2008.
Winyah
Winyah is Santee Cooper's second largest generating station with a total capacity of 1,130 MW. The first unit began commercial operation in 1975, and the other three units came online in 1977, 1980, and 1981.
