Santee Cooper Green Power is electricity we generate from renewable resources like wind, solar and landfill gas. Santee Cooper Green Power helps preserve the environment, reduces demand on our non-renewable natural resources and increases our energy independence. 

Green Power is Green-e Energy certified and meets the environmental and consumer protection standards set forth by the nonprofit Center for Resource Solutions. Learn more at www.green-e.org.

Located throughout the state, our Green Power generating portfolio includes six landfill generating stations, nine solar projects and one wind turbine. 

Proceeds from Green Power sales are used to build additional renewable generation and have been used to build 28 Green Power Solar School demonstration projects, 25 of which partner with South Carolina’s electric cooperatives. The other three are direct Santee Cooper customers or receive their electricity through a municipality we serve. Green Power Solar Schools are funded by our customers who purchase Green Power.

Buy Green Power

Santee Cooper customers have a chance to support renewable power growth by voluntarily purchasing Green Power through their monthly electric bills.

Customers can purchase blocks of Green Power each month, and we reinvest all Green Power revenue into new or expanded sources of renewable energy. Residential customers can buy as little as 100 kWh for $3 per month and additional 100 kWh blocks for $3 each. Commercial customers can purchase 200 kWh blocks for $6 each. You can also power your event, big or small, with Green Power.

Green Power Events

Purchasing Green Power for an event is easy and affordable. Green Power is sold in blocks of 200 KWh for $6 per block, and a minimum five block purchase is required. By choosing to host a Green Power Event, Santee Cooper will assist you with marketing needs in accordance with the event’s scale. Call 843-347-3399 extension 3029 for more information.

Green Power from Santee Cooper is a voluntary program and a customer can cancel the purchase of Green Power at any time by calling the customer service number or writing to the address listed in the Price, Terms & Conditions.
