Santee Cooper offers a preferred provider and high deductible plan health insurance through the state using the Blue Cross/Blue Shield of South Carolina network. Tricare is available for eligible military veterans. We also provide dental, life, and long-term disability insurance to our employees at no cost.
Employees can purchase additional life insurance for themselves and dependents. Flexible spending accounts for medical and dependent care are offered, and a health savings plan is available for employees enrolled in the high deductible health care plan. Short-term disability can be elected with two different plans. Voluntary cancer, critical illness and accident plans are also available.
Santee Cooper offers two different retirement programs through the state of South Carolina: the South Carolina Retirement System (SCRS) is a defined benefit plan and the State Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) is a defined contribution plan.
We also offer the 401k and 457 deferred compensation plans administrated by Empower Inc., with multiple investment options, including mutual funds, which are offered through payroll deductions. (Santee Cooper does not match contributions.)
We have a generous leave policy including two weeks of vacation for new hires, 10 paid holidays a year, sick leave/pay and other types of qualifying leave.
